Black (trans) women started the Stonewall riots, without their fight the LGBTQ+ community wouldn’t have the rights they have now. As for Black Lives Matter, two of the three black women who founded the movement identify as queer.

Unfortunately, queer black women are often forgotten or excluded from both communities.

So what a better way to celebrate the end of Pride Month than watching movies starring the women who paved the way?

Here’s my top 5.
